Hello, Harlingen!

My name is Bekah Batot, and I am honored to announce my candidacy for HCISD Board of Trustees, Place 3. As a proud Harlingen native, HCISD graduate, attorney and mother, I am deeply invested in the future of our schools, our students, and our community.

Why I’m Running

Our schools are the foundation of our community. As a parent with children currently in HCISD, I see firsthand the incredible dedication of our teachers, the potential of our students, and the challenges we face as a district. I believe every student deserves access to a quality, well-rounded education, and every teacher deserves the resources and support needed to succeed in the classroom, as well as compensation consistent with their tremendous impact on our children.

HCISD is at a pivotal moment. Transparency, fiscal responsibility, school safety, and mental health support are more important than ever. I am running because I believe our district needs strong leadership that listens to parents, supports teachers, and ensures that every decision prioritizes student success.

My Priorities

If elected, I will focus on:

Strengthening Educational Programs – Enhancing curriculum and ensuring students are prepared for success, regardless of their path.

Increasing Transparency – Keeping parents and the community informed and involved in decision-making.

Maximizing Resources – Ensuring our tax dollars are used efficiently and effectively to benefit students and classrooms.

Ensuring School Safety – Strengthening security measures and fostering a culture of respect and inclusion.

Supporting Teachers – Advocating for better pay, resources, and professional development opportunities.

Expanding Mental Health Support – Prioritizing mental wellness for both students and staff.

A Community Effort

This campaign is about our students, our families, and our future. I cannot do this alone—I need your support, your input, and your voice to make a difference. Whether it’s through attending events, volunteering, or simply sharing your thoughts, your involvement matters.

Let’s work together to build a stronger, more transparent, and student-focused HCISD. I’m ready to serve, and I hope to earn your trust and your vote.

Stay connected and join our movement for positive change!
